I'm hosting a small gathering of senior creative leaders and rising creative leaders in April on Cape Cod to convene around the topic of RENEWAL. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, so I've just put down the deposit on 30 rooms at a "One-Point-Five Seasons Hotel" on Cape Cod hoping to get 15 senior creative leaders to come and join me. You are one of them! The one condition for coming is that I will ask you to pay for one of 15 rising creative leaders to travel to Cape Cod to be with us.
First of all, do you have any rising creative leaders you would like to invite? If so, please send their name, how best to reach them, and a couple of sentences describing their work.
Secondly, can you commit to coming? Travel day is April 16 — we'll start from the morning of April 17 and run through April 18. My sketch of the gathering is over here: https://design.co/renewal/
Depending upon how far the rising creative leader might be traveling from, there will be a variable cost of somewhere between $500 to $3500 for you to bear. You'll need to cover your own room and board in addition — which being at a "One-Point-Five Seasons Hotel" means it will be very reasonable.
As you might guess, my concept for this event is that it's a business model with no business attached to it. I'm hoping that it is possibly a way to start breaking free from the giant mega-conference bubbles and to imagine a more inclusive approach to such gatherings.
What's in it for you? First of all, I've invited Kaki King to be the musical curator for RENEWAL — if you've never heard her play live before, it's quite an extraordinary experience. Secondly, it's a chance to hang out with folks you may know and folks who you don't know in an introvert-friendly setting. Lastly, you'll get to see me run all the A/V for this event because it's become my new professional hobby.
Inclusive design expert Kat Holmes (my co-host), advertising hero Tham Khai Meng, editorial legend David Granger, and guitarist extraordinaire Kaki King will be there. And I figure that a few more folks, like yourself, can make this a special time for us all.
