Creating the Impossible: How Compelling Stories Make the Future Happen, draws on my work at MIT Media Lab, eight years formulating and communicating space missions at NASA, and my current teaching at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. I'll explore how technological projects succeed or fail based on how well their stories are told - not just to funders, but to teams, stakeholders, and the public. Through live demonstrations including flying robots and examples from real missions, we'll look at the practical tools and approaches that turn ambitious ideas into reality. This is particularly relevant for anyone working at the intersection of AI, remote sensing, and resource management, where the technical capability exists but the challenge is bringing the right people together around a shared vision. The talk will be dense and hands-on, followed by a moderated discussion.
